making Him famous…

flier-frontflier-back

We ordered these last night and they have shipped today. I am so excited, even after i said a million times I would not do fliers, well I guess i have to take that back dont i. You will be seeing the “making Him famous” a lot more in the very near future as you ride through downtown Atlanta and the Old Fourth Ward. So be on the look out.

I designed this flier to simply spread the love about our soon to be released peculiarlove website. A website we decided to create to share with you and others the work in the community we plan to engage in. Our first effort came during election, and this weekend we are doing our GiveBack, where we will place $2000.00 worth of gift cards in the mailboxes and hands of the residents of Old Fourth Ward. Shhhh! They don’t know yet, so don’t tell them!

Looking forward to your thoughts on the flier and the website as it launches – really hope you add your stories to the peculiarlove website!!

peculiarlove

We just bought the domain, peculiarlove.com and are working feverishly to finish the site in time to for our give back!

Once the site is launched I would appreciate it you would pass the link on to ALL of your friends on Myspace, Facebook, Twitter and anywhere else you connect with people!

We really want to hear how people around the world are giving back! Sharing the love hope and promise Of this Christmas season is our goal!!

Stay tuned!!!

a week and one day…

is exactly how old Zion is today!

What a whirlwind life has been since his arrival. I find myself constantly staring at him, kissing him, wanting to hold him and share with him just how much he means to me. And trust me I do.

I must give all sorts of praise to my wife, Esther, who like a warrior princess handled the delivery seemingly effortlessly. A natural birth, breathing, calling on God, squeezing my hand, calling on God, speaking in creole, “dont touch me!!!”, wanting to push and being told not too because the doctor wasnt there yet and support from  her sister and a good friend, Zion was delivered. Did I mention he basically delivered himself, yes i said it!!!

The nurse was too bust telling Esther not to push, while she was demanding that she must push. The nurse said the doctor will be here in 30 min, we didnt have thirty minutes. The nurse stepped out of the room to call another doctor, and Rose, Esther’s sister a RN, said forget it if you have to push then push the nurses can deliver the baby. So just like that, like Esther had been given her emancipation proclimaton, she pushed. Not the super intense vein popping pushes you see on TV, but a push and there was Zion’s head. Rose ran to get the nurse. By the time she got to the door of the room, Zion’s shoulders were out. Im thinking at this point that this is not really happening, cant be real. By the time Rose started running back to Esther’s bedside where Roz, the good friend, and myself were Zion came sliding out on the bed!!!

Yes, I said sliding out. I wasn’t even aware that Esther was pushing, even she says she wasn’t pushing that hard. On the bed lay my beautiful son. Pale, bloody and silent. The nurses came rushing in and one grabbed a towel and began to rub him and  without hesitation and with all the strength his little body could muster, Zion screamed for dear life. A sigh of relief as the delivery room, already frantic because of what had just happened, got even crazier. Nurses in the room, My sister-in-law and friend are pissed, i am talking with Esther and describing Zion to her, relieved that he is fine. I have counted his fingers and toes, and all other extremities by now. Watching like a hawk the nurses as the handled him, preparing him to be held by Esther.

It was as if, he had to come out right then and there. There was no tearing, no need for stitching he simply slid out and found himself on the bed and into the world. It was like a movie. I regret to this day not having a video camera, but the picture will be in my head forever.

So thankful to God for entrusting us with him. Thankful that he sleeps, poops, eats and is simply handsome. So thankful that God is providing for us daily. Jim Akins and his wife stopped by when we got back from the hospital bearing gifts! Thankful to my parents who went above and way beyond to  help us out last week, I have the greatest parents on the planet!!

More Zion to come. He already has taught me so much about life!!!
