“experiencing life together, no matter how peculiar it might be…”
Mission Statement:
Why We Exist?
The mission of a peculiarplace is to lead people from where they are to a Christ centered LIFESTYLE.
Vision:
Where Are We Going?
Our vision is to lead those far from God to living a Christ Centere
d LIFESTYLE, introduce them to a relationship, not a religion, with Jesus Christ and build a community of people from all different walks of life, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural and racial backgrounds who simply love God and His Kingdom while serving the communities that surround downtown Atlanta.
Values:
What Do We Stand For?
A peculiarplace desires to be a community where service, worship, growth, grace, and faith are essential.
Community
Service
Worship
Growth
Grace
Faith
Strategy:
How Will We Get Where We Are Going?
Outreach: peculiarlove
We plan to engage the communities surrounding Downtown Atlanta with community outreach programs, like adopting an elementary school each year. Providing them with mentors, backpacks and supplies, a beautification program, we hope to build and rebuild playgrounds, and even supply computers to the schools in need.
We long for those communities to share in each others successes and failures, learning from one another, creating “Real Community”. To create an agenda to “green” up the community through projects such recycling and community gardens, which will provide a vital food source for those who cant afford to eat healthy, partner with other entities teaching classes on nutrition so that hopefully one day we can see the percentages of children and adults in this area effected by diabetes, stroke, cancer and heart disease drastically reduced.
We want to introduce micro loans to the community. Micro loans are part of a program that have been a huge success in countries like Africa and India where small loans are given to families to start or create businesses in hopes of becoming self sustaining.
We want to take this idea and implement it into a community inundated with unemployment and welfare. The idea is to provide families, specifically but not exclusively, to single/ unwed mothers with a micro loan, valued at 500-1000.00, to create a business. We are planning to partner with several entities to help with financing the loans, as well as business plans, incorporation, licenses, tax ID, etc.
Worship: peculiarplace
There will be creative worship experiences built in u
sing spoken word, music, poetry, video, illustrations, street poetry and other elements not merely to entertain, but to expound on the current message series.
You will hear relevant, simple, challenging and applicable teaching of the Good News. Our desire is for you to leave and easily apply what you have heard to your life, to fill holes, make changes or start new; so that you can go from where you are to a Christ centered lifestyle.
Community: peculiarlife
We envision creating communities within the communities we will serve; therefore we are a church “of” small groups known as peculiarlife. Small groups of families, singles and the like gathering in homes, coffee shops, parks, or rooftop terraces once a week to experience life together, grow in their relationship with Christ through bible study, create new relationships with people they otherwise may never “notice” or speak to, allowing us to see people grow from where they are to living a Christ centered lifestyle.
