I say my first and only because I dont ever want to make it a habit to spew my political preference, ideals or views on this blog or as a church. But after hearing about 700 billion dollars in bailout monies, the number of jobs lossed in the last two months, the lines at gas stations (panic is in the air and it is as think as clam chowder) and just the overall apathy of our country I must say something!

I am pro-life, I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman and I believe that small government or rather a dependency on government is a bad thing, YET!!! I BELIEVE that there is more at stake in this election than values or moral right!

Values will not create jobs, values will not bring our troops home, values in all honesty will not Secure our country against terror, values will not undue the horror of the current housing CRISIS, values will not “fix” our economy, nor will values appease the 600,000 plus people who were working and now find themselves unable to get the most menial of jobs…

With that said, show me something other than your plastic hypocritical clinging to the church and “your values”. Show me a solution to the real hurts and needs of the people who by the way fill your churches Sunday morning and listen to messages of HOPE and lifeCHANGE. Show me!!!

For the last two elections I, yes me, have voted with my values and beliefs in the last two elections and well lets just say that I will not be doing that again! At least not now. I could go on about one candidate who stands for Christ and another who we dont even know if he attends church regularly if at all. But, then I would have to think about all those people who attend church every week sometimes two or three times a week who wont vote for a particular candidate because of their race???? HUH?!!! Ohhh, there is a difference between white Christians and black Christians? God love one race and not another?

Its this foolish behavior of the church, the body of Christ, that has those who we PROCLAIM we are on a mission to REACH, staying as far away as possible!

Since when does LOVE have color, since when has a message of HOPE and CHANGE simply become RHETORIC, isnt that what us pastors, teachers, evangelist, ministers, preachers give in abundance to people a least once a week? Since when is it ok to belittle community activism or outreach, is that not what “community” churches strive to do?

I mean hey these are merely my thoughts, and hold a fire to no ones foot to feel one way or the other. That is the beauty of the country we love and will die for and have died for. My only request is that you VOTE!!!

One last thing… peculiarplace will not now, or ever be used in anyway as a political platform for any agenda other than that of leading people from where they are to a Christ centered lifestyle. That is our mission, vision and focus. With laser precision we will declare DOWNTOWN ATLANTA for the KINDGOM of God!!!
